Artsy Fartsy

JAC is a lover of all things unique and expressive. This obviously translates into our choice of art for a space. For those of you that don't have the luxury of traveling the world, collecting one of a kind works of art, and spending three months mortgage on a 12"x 24" for your entry way, but still want the feeling like you did, listen up. Here are a few JAC approved tips for choosing pieces that add life and promote a smooth transition into that conversation about how you just happened to stumble upon a Pop-Up Art Walk while on holiday in Portugal, shhh we won't tell.

Let's talk about what works where, how and why, the JAC way. In particular, the entry-way art is very important. This should be an impactful piece. It's the first thing people see when they enter your domain and it will set the tone for the rest of the house tour. Pick something substantial in size, that really speaks to you and it never hurts to accent it with a long console, pretty lamp, funky sculpture or potted plant.

For all you Modernistas out there, abstracts are always a good choice. Always try to pick a color scheme that will transition you into the neighboring rooms so that there is nothing confusing or shocking your gaze as you flow through the rest of the house.

White canvas with bold broad brush strokes in vibrant colors, geometrics and color blocking are always modern and timeless. Black and white drawings or photos of your favorite animals, beautiful people or places is especially fun and a great way to show your personality.
