Current Hotel Crush: Hotel Joaquin In Laguna Beach

If you are like us and looking for someplace original and one of the best new hotels to spend some quality down time, look no further than The Hotel Joaquin in southern California's Laguna Beach. As city dwellers we love to get out of town and soak up some of the fantastic design and natural majesty this state has to offer, particularly when you can be someplace where the ocean meets the cliffs. And of course living the Laguna Beach Lifestyle (if even for just a short weekend) proves to be a dream with the coveted Shaw’s Cove just a two-minute walk from the hotel’s garden. You don't have to venture outside the hotel for coastal chic interiors and a unique vibe all your own. The rooms are all one of a kind, with hand picked original and vintage art and wall hangings with loads of texture and tone on tone materials to help you get serene and balanced--and that's all before checking into their relaxing spa! JAC loves boutique hotels (especially boutique hotels in Orange County) mainly for the originality each space has to offer. As designers we can appreciate the time and effort to scout highly unique items for each room and a true coastal modern home decor. And The Hotel Joaquin does not disappoint in this regard. In addition to each room shape and feel being completely unique to the next, the curation of the individual rooms is a real treat! The views vary from hills to gardens to sea, and each stone sink and hand painted tile we spot makes us crave a bathroom remodel. Plus each room has a view of gardens, or beaches or poolside that can't be matched. Oh and to further curate your own vibe, throw some vinyl on your personal record player tucked into each room, or use some of their extensive vinyl library. The Hotel Joaquin also boasts an amazing farm to table menu restaurant, (or should we say sea-to table!) called Saline Kitchen. They can wrap your lunch up in a pretty basket for you to take to the cliffs or the beach for a relaxed and yummy alfresco meal. Offerings like cous cous and crab, prosciutto baguettes and Arctic char farmers’ salads will make your day! Later on you can head to the Pool bar for cocktails or coffees with a view, or before your spa treatments! And if you are an adventurer you can partake in any of the many activities on offer be it biking or hiking or snorkeling or boogie boarding, they have all the equipment you will need, just ask at the front desk. Your every wish, including great design is their desire to keep your happy! Hotel photography by Roger Davies for Hotel Joaquin
