At this time of year when we're starting to dream about summer vacations and the verdant spring to come, JAC, an interior designer in Los Angeles, couldn't help but think about some of our favorite small spaces and cozy hideaways. And of course some of the best designed getaways are sometimes nestled up and away in trees. Yes, I'm talking about dreamy tree houses that we all secretly want to climb into and whittle away some time staring out at the tree-scapes below. Do you think tree houses are just for kids? You are totally mistaken. It’s true that they are often designed and used as an outdoor playroom for children but there are some amazing ones like miniature apartments where you can escape from the city life and spend your weekends. There are both cheap and more luxurious tree houses available for different needs and purposes. Some modern eclectic decor are so gorgeous that we’d define them house in a tree rather than a tree house. Check out our gallery of the best tree house designs we've ever seen! And, your childhood dream of having a tricked-out treehouse can totally come true—these lofty escapes are outfitted with amazing amenities, and many are available to rent for an epic vacation. Visit The Treehotel.com for some of the most amazing tree houses that you can actually rent like a hotel room. Most of their tree houses are modern in design and in Sweden, but there are plenty of fabulous tree hotels in the US to choose from.
This one is called the UFO treehouse located in Sweden and you can see why. Sci-fi geeks will love staying in this towering hotel room, even if they won't be sharing the space with extra-terrestrial guests.
In the woods of Middle Grove, NY, visitors can climb a winding staircase to this cozy, treetop cabin, outfitted with an outdoor kitchen, full bath, fire pit and deck, ideal for overlooking the surrounding greenery and taking in the Adirondack Mountains.
Even though we would love to visit each and every one of these gorgeous and dreamy tree houses, we are happy to just see pictures of these and dream about visiting them and maybe getting a glimpse of Tarzan and Jane!
