I don't know about you but as soon as I feel a little crispness in the air I start to think about cozying up to the fire and the holidays to come. And then just as suddenly I begin to think of how I can change up my interiors for said upcoming holidays! At JAC we think a lot can be done without a major remodel, just little tweaks to hit the refresh button in your personal space. Just as with new season fashion trends we see new emerging home decor trends each season that tempt us to update our homes and think about fall and winter decorating ideas.
And while some trends really do come and go, others have staying power for a long time and become classics. Like the nordic trend, it's been with us for years now and continues to evolve. But there are also key colors and shapes that become the must have for decorating our homes.
There’s no escaping trends. Whether you live by them or feel totally unaffected, from popular paint shades to furniture choices, everything designed for our homes is influenced by a wider trend. Just like at your favorite clothing boutique, you start to see new and interesting color palettes and patterns and ways of mixing and matching that feels fresh and modern and a must have. Some trends appeal to you, some don't, but typically there is least one trend that you can buy into just for a season or two.
We've taken the time to gather just a handful of our favorite autumn interior design trends that seem like they might have some staying power. The first one we like is called Abstract Energy. Bold patterns and punchy colors lend a more playful approach to styling and decor. As with the expressionist art movement this interior design trend for fall celebrates the imperfect and fluidity of hand-drawn forms – line drawings play a key focus within this look as do blocks of bold color.
Due to the ever changing environment and all that we hear about it on a daily basis, there is greater interest in biophilia– which emphasizes the relationship between humankind and nature, and the connections between the two. Natural, organic materials–such as wood floors, stone and plant life–remind us of the exterior and brings the outside in. More and more we are a machine and technology driven society, but nostalgia for past processes and handiwork provide opportunities for custom millwork and crafted materials. Think small batch, handmade ceramics and woven wall hangings and you get my point. Oh and that whole millennial plant thing is definitely a part of this category!
Welcome to our JAC Blog! We aim to share our enthusiasm for all things Interior Design including tips and tricks of how to make the most of your space whether it’s at home, in the office or outside.
