Spring and Summer Interior Design Color Trends - 2019

Spring is here and so are the spring 2019 color trends! Days are longer and warmer. Flowers are blooming and new trends are popping up. This Spring decor color palettes are stealing the show, but there are some basics that will help you stay cool, calm and connected to the best of what's happening out there interior design wise. And don't forget, spring is all about letting nature in - not only bringing in colors but also floral patterns, real flowers, anything GREEN and all elements inspired by nature. We love Coral, the Pantone color of the year for 2019 and all its vibrancy, but in limited doses. We suggest popping out throw pillows and blankets and even art with some coral to lend a current vibe to your interiors. However the classic look of layered neutrals with some colorful accents are among the top home design trends for the season and easy to understand why - neutrals act like a canvas or clean palette that you can pair with any bright and vibrant color for an easy splash into spring and summer. Color is definitely playing a big role in design as we see a shift from cool-toned gray palettes to light, brown-based tones and warm whites. Transitioning from the popularity of gray palettes, many home designs are now warming up their interiors with taupe and putty colors instead of grays or GREIGE. These warmer tones can come in the form of a lighter wood flooring, in your general overall paint colors or in your basic furnishings like a sofa or chairs. All a slight but welcome shift from gray tones, but to be clear at JAC, a Los Angeles interior designer we will always love the versatility of gray. Variations of green are also popping up more and more in interiors in a multitude of shades. From teals to moss greens to vibrant emeralds, these colors seem to be bringing the outside in, much the same as the latest millennial love affair with real plants. Green serves as a warm grounding neutral, with added complexity, that makes for a versatile and serene look. It's all the craze don't cha know?! Blue, in all its many forms, has proven itself as a popular accent color over the last few years, but now it’s being added more as a neutral color within design. Blue can blend in with other colors and is popping up on everything from home accessories to kitchen cabinetry, especially on kitchen islands. We definitely give it the JAC stamp of approval. More home interiors are welcoming bolder, darker colors, as accent walls or in overall designs both inside and out - it's a very current and modern look. Onyx can be styled as bold and glammy or casual-hipster to bring high contrast and an elevated couth to any space in the home. The color remains a timeless and beautiful go-to that will make a big wave in design this season and for years to come!
